The battle between the East vs the West. Manny Pacquiao of General Santos, Philippines will be taking on Ricky Hatton from Stockport, United Kingdom for the International Boxing Organization (IBO) and The Ring light welterweight (super lightweight) championship of the world. Ricky Hatton has been nick named the ‘Hitman’ with the record of 45-1 (32KO) it is no surprise that his only loss has come by the hands of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. who who is still undefeated. Manny Pacquaio, aka, Pac-Man (the pound for pound champion) has a record of 48–3–2 (36 KO), is coming to battle after defeating Oscar De La Hoya who just recently retired. Pac-Man has been described by Lennox Lewis as the greatest pound for pound fighter in the world. Floyd Mayweather Sr. who is training Ricky Hatton has said that Pacquaio will never be the same after the same having his head down low. I disagree as I believe Pacquiao will be the victor!

This post is a tribute to Oscar De La Hoya and his boxing career. A true rags to riches story from East Los Angeles, he became one of the sport’s most popular boxers. Coming from a family of boxers, in which both his grand father and his father played for the sport, Oscar De La Hoya is retiring with 39 wins (30KOs) and 6 losses. In a press conference today, Oscar was quoted saying “I’m announcing my retirement… When I can’t compete at my highest level, its not fair… to me, [or] my fans” He continued “knowing that you’re never going going to compete again is a tough decision but now I am looking forward to the future of boxing. When i cannot compete at this level, I have come to the conclusion that it is over. ” Having started his career with a gold medal for USA in the Barcelona Olympics, he has defeated 17 world champions, and has won 10 world titles in six different weight classes in his professional boxing career. That and being the single most richest boxer in the history of the sport, makes him one of a kind. Golden boy will be missed.
