[NBA YTD TOTAL: 8-5: +5 UNITS]

[P.O.D. YTD: 2-0: +5 UNITS]

GSW/PHO UNDER 232.5 (P.O.D.) **2 UNITS**

PHOENIX SUNS -5.5 **1/2 UNIT**

By now, you should’ve realized that the Phoenix Suns are not the same Suns that were once coached by D’Antoni… They can still put up points, just not too effectively… And the Warriors are nowhere near the playoff contenders that they were when they knocked out Dallas in the first round a few years back.. I can see both teams lighting up the scoreboard tonight, but I just can’t see this game going too much past 220… With the line having opened at 227.5 and having climbed all the way up to 232.5, it seems like the OVER-backers will get jacked up tonight…

ORL/NJN OVER 197.5 (P.O.D. #2) **2 UNITS**

ORLANDO MAGIC -10.5 **1/2 UNIT**

Having gone undefeated in the pre-season, the Magic followed it up with a stellar performance at home two nights ago… Playing without Rashard Lewis for the first 10 games (due to suspension for using drugs), everyone wondered how the Magic would fare, but the Magic men have managed to start where they left off from last season… With all the new offensive weapons acquired by the Magic, I can’t see them scoring under 100 points on any given night.. But tonight, both teams will be playing their hearts out, and I see a shoot-out in the midst.. Look for big games from Ryan Anderson, Vince Carter, and Courtney Lee, who will be looking to prove that each team got the better end of the trade (which should be obvious)…

INDIANA PACERS -1.5 **1 UNIT**

Now, Dwyane Wade is my favorite player… and it’s very difficult betting against him, just knowing what he’s capable of… My main reason for taking this pick is not because of the Heat’s bench (or rather, lack thereof)… There’s just too much love for a Heat team that hasn’t fared well on the road… I just can’t see how Quentin Richardson is going to keep up with Danny Granger (who scored 31 points when he was considered “doubtful” for Game 1)… and Jermaine will not have his 22-12-4 that he got in Game 1… The developing Roy Hibbert should be plenty of body to keep him wrestling all night…

PHILADELPHIA SIXERS -6 **1 UNIT**

So the Sixers lost Andre Miller in the offseason, and the lack of a true PG was evident in Game 1… However, Lou Williams looks like he can develop into another bright star for the Sixers… With Elton Brand back and everyone like AI, Dalembert and Young healthy, I just can’t see how the worst team in the league can keep up with the young studs of the Sixers… Michael Redd should be back in action tonight, and I don’t see him coming out firing like Arenas did… I see a big and easy win for Philly tonight…

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER +5.5 **1/2 UNIT**

As I mentioned in a previous post about the Thunder this year, they are a very young and exciting ball club with a LOT of talent… Sure Detroit has seasoned vets that have been to the NBA Finals and won, but they are not the same team from last year, or the year before that… With Villanueva and Gordon making their home debut tonight, everyone is expecting a big win for the Pistons, but I just don’t see that happening… Westbrook led his team to victory in Game 1, cashing in on 13 assists (career high), and I just can’t see Stuckey keeping up with him… I’m looking for Gordon to flop tonight, and I’ll say Jeff Green to the BANK!!!

LOS ANGELES LAKERS -8 **1/2 UNIT**

Based on Game 1’s performance, we know that the Lakers are still the same Lakers, with or without Artest… They will play tough opponents aggressively and look for early leads, and let the sub-par opponents hang tight in games… Tonight, the Lakers are put to the test as they will once again be without Pau Gasol when facing the Mavs… The Mavs lost their home opener to the Washington Wizards, even with the addition of Shawn Marion.. Of course it’ll only be a matter of time before this team starts gelling together, but tonight is not that night.. I see the Lakers coming up with a big W, easily in DD fashion… Lamar Odom to the BANK!!!

NBA THURSDAY – DAY 3

Posted by bookiebusta on October 29, 2009

[NBA YTD: 7-3][+5 UNITS]

4-1 last night with the 3 unit POD cashing in.. We’re off to a great start, and I don’t see why that should end tonight… Let’s keep it rolling…

CHICAGO BULLS +4 **2 UNITS** (P.O.D.)

OVER 193 **1 UNIT**

We witnessed last night how deep this San Antonio team actually is… With everyone healthy, it’s hard to imagine how any team can really keep up (at least offensively)… With that being said, take into consideration that San Antonio is a bit of an older team, structured to win championships in the very near future… They are playing on a back to back, on the road… Historically, the Spurs are a great road team because of their defense, but as trends showed last year, and with new star-caliber players, their defense isn’t quite what it was when they had won their previous 3 championships… Which is why I like the Bulls tonight.. The Bulls went on a nice home tear closing out last year, beating out some premiere teams in Chicago… Losing Ben Gordon means that they lost an offensive weapon, but this team has many more where that came from… With young developing players like Derrick Rose, Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah, and rookie Taj Gibson, along with the likes of some seasoned vets like Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, John Salmons, Brad Miller, and Lindsey Hunter, this team is easily poised for the playoffs… I see the Bulls continuing where they left off at the end of last season, and possibly pulling off an upset with a straight W at home… John Salmons to the BANK!!!

PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS -7 **1 UNIT**

This play is based on my theory of the TNT special… One fave and one underdog hits almost guaranteed every time it’s broadcasted on TNT… Haha, that’s not my only reasoning though… Denver is also on a back to back, playing a tough game against Utah last night… Like I mentioned a few reasons before, playing without J.R. Smith and Dahntay Jones, and trying to replace them with Ty Lawson and Aaron Afflalo just won’t cut it… Tonight, the Blazers pose all kinds of matchup problems for the Thuggets… Oden, Aldridge, Przybilla, Outlaw will be tough for K-Mart, Nene, and Birdman to manage inside… You can make the case by showing how Scola was shut down in Portland’s previous game… When comparing both benches, Portland is the far deeper team, bringing out Andre Miller, Travis Outlaw, Rudy Fernandez, Joel Przybilla off the bench, guy’s that would pretty much start on any team (besides the 6 super-teams that were constructed this offseason).. Also, Denver has always struggled on the road, and in their last 4 meetings, the home team has covered ATS… So what does this all mean? Martell Webster to the BANK!!!

[NBA YTD: 3-2] [even]

[Parlays and teasers: 0-1][-1 unit]

So 3-2 last night because the half-ass Fakers can never cover against a “mediocre” team… Up by 14 with less than 2 minutes left, I thought I was in the clear, but it appears that Sun Yue was not the problem all along (as last season, all big leads diminished as soon as Sun Yue entered the game).. It’s the whole Laker mentality that they don’t need to “show up” for games against teams like the Clippers, Kings, Bucks, you get what I’m saying… Anyways, let’s look to break the books tonight with these plays… I’ll keep the write-ups short and sweet..

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER -6.5 **3 UNITS** (P.O.D.)

So the once playoff contending team, better known as the Sacramento Queens, officially went into rebuilding mode about 2 years ago.. Since then, not much has been reconstructed… So you hear names like Kevin Martin (who is their lone offensive weapon), Jason Thompson & Spencer Hawes (who have potential to become at least pretty decent starters), Francisco Garcia (who will probably be out til about mid-season), with the addition of Tyreke Evans (who really should be playing SG, but will be starting at PG… yeah, I don’t get it either)… and they still don’t look any good on paper nor on the court… They will be facing off against one of the most talented young teams in the league, and they should be extremely fun to watch.. Durant with Green, Westbrook with Harden… Look for a monstrous game from K-D.. (I’m thinking 35+ points -_-)

UTAH JAZZ +6 **1 UNIT**

The Denver Thuggets will be without JR Smith tonight due to suspension… Not to mention, they no longer even have Dahntay Jones on that team (who went to Indiana in the offseason)… I mean sure the Nugs are still a good team, but don’t expect them to get as far as they did last year… Ty Lawson and Afflalo were great pick-ups for the Thuggets, but I don’t see them starting off their season with a bang, or with a W for that matter (considering a play on the ML)… On the other hand, the ever-so-consistent Mr. Jerry Sloan and his squad should be good to go tonight.. Banking it on D-Will to rip Chauncey a new one tonight…

SAN ANTONIO SPURS -9 **1 UNIT**

What needs to be said here? Addition of Richard Jefferson + Mcdyess makes this already stacked ball club even deeper… Greg Popp gave Duncan the offseason to rest, as his age showed last year (where he had worked out extra hard in the offseason, and burned himself out mid-season due to injury to Ginobili).. I don’t see how the Hornets can keep this game close, especially when the only move the Hornets made this offseason was for Okafor… I just don’t see it guys.. Am I missing something here?

LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS +3.5 **1 UNIT**

So the Clipper curse comes into effect yet again, with another #1 draft pick (projected to miss 6-8 weeks)… Of course, the Clippers being my team, I still do have hope for them.. On paper, they are a very deep team, but that’s something we’ll have to wait and see… Tonight’s game, I am strictly taking the Clips not because of my fan bias, but because not only did they showcase that they can hang with the best with last night’s game, but the line movement was too crazy.. When I first saw this line, I saw the Clips at +1… To get them at +3.5 is like a “gimme” with over 90% of the public all over the Suns… but why? Nash is getting old, Grant Hill is on that same boat, and they’ve managed to pick up the worser of the 2 brothers, both in last year’s and this year’s draft (Lopez and Griffin)… Not to mention that Jason Richardson is suspended… So is everyone banking on the hopes that Amare will come back to score 40+? I don’t think so.. Amare may be a great player, but he has yet to break the surface of superstardom… On top of that, he has his work cut out for him tonight, going against the likes of Kaman, Camby, Craig Smith, and DeAndre Jordan… (Highly considering Clips ML +130)

ATLANTA HAWKS -8 **1 UNIT**

The Hawks are also one of the deepest teams on paper, especially with the addition of Jamaal Crawford coming off their bench!!! That doesn’t fare well for the Pacers, who may be without Danny Granger tonight, and are without Dunleavy and Hansbrough… A lot of critics have taken the Hawks off of their “playoff radar” due to their recent historical trends of not being able to make it deep into the playoffs, as they cannot buy a win on the road… Luckily for us, tonight they’re playing at home, where they are a GREAT team… I don’t know how much more can be said about this team, except POINTS POINTS POINTS!! Let me shock you with this one… BIBBY TO THE BANK!!!
