NBA Friday 4/3/09

Posted by parlayking on April 3, 2009

After a number of disappointing losses last week, I needed to clear my head a bit instead of making tilt bets. Congratulations to trueaspects who went 2-0 yesterday… I am posting 13 plays today consisting of spreads and point totals. If you really feel like giving it to your bookie today, I have listed some of the plays that I am taking today. Good luck everyone!

OOOOOOOOOO FACE!!!!!!!!!!

OOOOOOOOOO FACE!!!!!!!!!!

MIA @ CHA -4.5 (O/U 183)

PICK: MIAMI +4.5

PICK: OVER 183

Okay, so you must be thinking… what the hell is this guy smoking? A hot Charlotte team at home, facing off against Miami, who hasn’t been able to buy a win on the road if it meant their life! Well I’m smoking some of that “Barack O’ Bubba” and I’m gonna go off on a limb and say that Miami wins it outright tonight! I absolutely hate betting on teams that MUST WIN.. Charlotte still trails Chicago for the 8th seed in the East by a game and half, and their remaining games are becoming more and more like MUST WIN situations. Miami on the other hand, are still battling for the 5th seed in the East with Philly. They need to build some momentum going into the playoffs, and right now would be a good time to spark that fire. Look to see the Flash win some more votes for the MVP race tonight!

SAS @ IND +4.5

PICK: INDIANA +4.5

As good as the San Antonio Spurs are, I hate them to death! I can’t stand how slow the tempo is in games that they play. Tonight, the Spurs face off against Indi, who has been upsetting the elite teams throughout the season while playing at home. Look for the same tonight, as Granger and Ford should keep the game close.

DAL @ MEM +7 (O/U 196)

PICK: MEMPHIS +7

PICK: OVER 196

Without even looking at the line, I automatically took Memphis. The first thing that I saw was the 90% public that was riding on Dallas, to cause the spread to jump from -5.5 to -7, since it opened. Now, I’m not a mathematician, but I can do the math that when 90% of the masses are riding on one side and causing lopsided line movement.. Vegas tends to not like to lose money. Now, how easy is it to say that Dallas will beat the lowly Memphis ball club? I smell something fishy..

POR @ OKL +5 (O/U 191)

PICK: PORTLAND -5

PICK: OVER 191

At first glance, I wanted to take Oklahoma +5, partly due to Kevin Durant being on my fantasy squad, and seeing the solid numbers that he’s been putting up all season long. But after debating and debating (for about 10 minutes), there was no way that I could fade Portland. Portland is going to dominate in not only rebounding, but points in the paint tonight. Who’s going to be responsible for guarding Aldridge, Oden, and Przybilla? Green, Krstic, and Collison? I don’t think so.. Let alone, the damage that Roy will be doing to the Thunder team all night.. I just don’t see how I could bet otherwise..

CLE @ ORL -3.5 (O/U 187)

PICK: ORLANDO -3.5

PICK: UNDER 187

This is probably going to be the most exciting game of the night. Usually, that means stay away from this game as much as possible, as you don’t know what can happen. However, Cleveland has struggled against Orlando, and the home team usually tends to come out on top. Both teams are coming off of disappointing losses last game, but this game means more to Orlando than it does for Cleveland. Cleveland has to lose sometimes, right? You guys should definitely watch this game, as the two freaks of nature (or new breed of basketball players), Dwight Howard and Lebron James should keep this matchup full of disgusting highlights.

SAC @ PHO -13 (O/U 246)

PICK: PHOENIX -13

PICK: UNDER 246

Big spreads usually tend to be easier to call. Phoenix has had no problem disposing of the Sacramento Queens, and I don’t see that ridiculous 246 over hitting either. I don’t know what to say about this game besides, who does Sacramento have besides Kevin Martin, and the occasional breakouts from players like Francisco Garcia and Jason Thompson? And will Spencer Hawes be able to guard the great Shaqtus? The Big Socrates? The original Superman? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

HOU @ LAL -5.5 (O/U 196)

PICK: L.A. LAKERS -5.5

PICK: OVER 196

I had dedicated a past post to ask where the fuck are the Lakers? After a 7 game road trip, the Lakers come back home to take on Houston, who has not been a challenge to the L.A. ball club this season. It’s a whole different story at home, where the Lakers look to assert their dominance in the West by making a mockery of Yao Ming and his weak ass Rockets that can never seem to get past the first round of the playoffs (well at least since the Dream left). It’s Friday night, and the Lakers should come out firing to energize their home crowd. Look for the Laker bench to step up tonight..
