KOBE TUESDAY 3/31/09

Posted by parlayking on March 31, 2009

I was extremely busy at work today, so I didn’t have time to post any plays. I do have one small play that I made. I went 4-2 in NBA bets yesterday, hopefully we can pick up from there.

NBA WEST PLAYOFF PICTURE

Posted by bookiebusta on March 31, 2009

BEST IN THE WEST

BEST IN THE WEST

I know the picture doesn’t show the top 3 teams in the West in terms of records, but these are my top 3 teams from the West going into the playoffs.

Of course, we have to start things off with the best in the West. The Lakers have been dominating teams all season long, with or without their center Andrew Bynum, who should be back within the next week or two to get ready for the playoffs. There’s not much to be said about the Lakers. It’s plain obvious that they’re going to be the team in the NBA Finals from the WEST. They are the only team in the NBA, to go undefeated against both Cleveland and Boston this year. Kobe Bryant is making a push to become the league’s MVP, two years in a row. If the playoffs were to start today, the Lakers would be facing the Dallas Mavericks.. HAHA! What a joke! Maybe if Mark Cuban used some of his money on getting a real franchise player, they might actually be going somewhere. But are you kidding me? You built a team around Dirk? He’s no Larry Bird, and even if he was, the way the game is played today… Even Bird couldn’t do it with the Mavs team.

With that being said, we move on to the #2 seed, the Spurs. The Spurs have been battling injuries all season, but yet they still managed to hold down the 2nd best record in the West. RESPECT! (Although I must agree with parlayking that the Spurs and the Jazz are quite boring to watch) There’s nothing new about this team. They only seem to be getting older and trying to stack up on more veterans. This will most likely be their final year where they’re seeded so high going into the playoffs. With the core of Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker, they may meet the Lakers once again in the NBA Western Conference Finals, but even they are no match for the Lakers..

At the #3 seed, we have the Denver Nuggets, who have made a complete turn-around in terms of the style of basketball they play. Chauncey Billups has done well with that team, and got the team to focus on defense more. If the playoffs started today, Denver would be hosting Portland, who has shown that they do have depth on that roster, but have also shown that they are far too young to close out an important series. Portland’s depth should scare teams for many years to come, but their time is not now. However, the real #3 seed should be the New Orleans Hornets, who is led by Chris Paul (who should have been the real MVP last year). His team stands at #7 currently on the West, but are far more capable of taking out teams once Chandler and Stojakovic return.

As we look at the matchup between #4 Houston and #5 Utah, historically speaking, we can all put our money on Utah. Houston can’t seem to make it past the first round of the playoffs as of late, and Utah can’t seem to get past the second. Look for the same trend to happen this year. On a final note, LETS GO LAKERS!

THE WACK ASS JAZZ (except Deron and the Booze)

Posted by parlayking on March 30, 2009

I was corrected by a Utah Jazz fan on my most recent post. So I decided to write a post about the Utah Jazz dedicated to him.

What is the NBA coming to?

What is the NBA coming to?

For as long as I’ve been watching basketball, the Utah Jazz have been one of the teams that I’ve hated. Reason? Look at the picture above and tell me that there is no problem.. If you can name more white people on your team than black, then the management has done something wrong. We all know that “White Men Can’t Jump”. So why try to bring all of them together, to create the most boring basketball known to mankind (next to the Spurs)? The only thing you get out of it are jumpshots.. And the Black guys on the team, half of them are lighter skinned than the white guys with the exception of Ronnie Brewer and maybe Brevin Knight.

So, they’ve constructed their team with enough white people to build their fan base up in Utah.. so what? They NEVER get anywhere.. you know why? because our LA team happens to give it to them real good.. and i’m talking REAL GOOD.. anytime Utah thinks they have a chance (as will be the case once AGAIN this year).. Sorry to burst your bubble, but maybe you should find a new team to root for.. You couldn’t do it with Stockton and Malone.. I don’t see much different now.. Deron and Booze.. And as for your “I only need to fear the Lakers and Spurs in the West” mentality, you have to get past the first round in order to face the Lakers homie.. Good luck

REDEMPTION MONDAY 3/30/09

Posted by parlayking on March 30, 2009

After I started posting picks on this site, I’ve been on somewhat of a losing streak.. To get you better acquainted, I have lost my past 3 weeks winnings on the opening weekend for this site.. SAD :(

But every bettor knows, that with sports betting comes its ups and downs.. Such is especially the case when making parlay bets.. I haven’t been hitting my bets because of parlays. If you straight bet each of my plays that I’ve posted, you shouldn’t be down, as I’ve hit either a side or game total (pts) on all posts.. However, this is a day of REDEMPTION!

FLASH VS SUPERMAN

FLASH VS SUPERMAN

Orlando @ Miami +3 (O/U 192.5)

Pick: Miami +3

Pick: Over 192.5

Miami has lost 12 out of their last 13 meetings to Orlando.. So why am I taking the Flash to beat Superman tonight? With the exception of their last game, Orlando has beat Miami in the past 6 meetings or so by an average of 14 points.. but let’s take into account that Wade was out almost all last season.. The Flash we will see tonight, should be reminiscent of the man we saw a few years back, who led his team to a NBA title. With the help of big man Jermaine O’Neal, the Heat should be able to fend off the Magics tonight.. This game means more to the Heat as they are battling for the 5th playoff spot in the East with Philly. Look for Wade to go off for at least 35 pts, as these cross-town rivals should light up the scoreboard tonight… GO HEAT!!!

MIL @ NJN -3 (O/U 200)

Pick: NJN -3

Pick: Under 200

This game should not be exciting whatsoever (with a few exceptions of Vinsanity highlights), as both teams probably will not make it to the playoffs. However, lets keep in mind Milwaukee’s horrible losing streak, as well as… THEY’RE STILL WITHOUT REDD AND BOGUT! I do not see how Ramon Sessions and Richard Jefferson can take on the likes of the Devistator (Devin Harris) and Vinsanity..

HERE IS MY THEORY.. IF YOU DON’T LIKE THESE PLAYS, FADE THEM THE OTHER WAY.. IF YOU FEEL ORLANDO WILL COVER THE SPREAD TONIGHT, THEN TAKE ORLANDO WITH THE UNDER, AND THEN TAKE MILWAUKEE WITH THE OVER..

NYK @ UTH -11 (O/U 213.5)

Pick: NYK +11

Pick: Over 213.5

The Knicks have won their last 2 meetings against Utah (I was actually corrected by someone.. The Knicks have split their last 4 meetings with Utah). Then I’ll add this just to piss off the Utah fan that corrected me.. The Knicks have won their last 7/9 games against Utah.. (by the way, how the hell are you a Utah fan? 1.) you’re not a Mormon; 2.) how do you stand watching so many white people play at one time? 3.) your team’s gonna lose to LA once again, so why bother rooting?) Not only that, Utah has not fared well against high-powered offenses as of late. I’m not denying that Utah will win this game, but they probably won’t cover the spread. D’Antoni is looking to go into Utah and come out with a win. Probably won’t happen, but at least we know that they won’t go down without a fight…

NBA 2nd HALF for LAL @ ATL

Posted by parlayking on March 29, 2009

THE BLACK MAMBA

THE BLACK MAMBA

2nd Half Line for LAL @ ATL +4 (o/U 99)

Pick: LAL -4

Pick: Over 99

The Lakers shot a horrible percentage in the first half.. However, we all know that the Lakers are a 2nd Half Team and Kobe is a 2nd Half player… Look for Kobe and Pau to close out the 2nd half.. I have 2 units on the LAL -3 and Under 200 parlay for whole game, and the 2nd Half Line for 1 unit.. GOOD LUCK!

Pick: LAL -3.5

MISSOU @ CONN -5.5

RACE FOR MVP…

Posted by parlayking on March 27, 2009

PLAYER OF THE YEAR...

PLAYER OF THE YEAR...

The first post on this site, is not a post of picks to f your bookie.. There will be plenty of those to come.. Instead, how about we talk about this year’s MVP race?

This year’s race for MVP can go a several different ways… The leading candidate in this year’s race would be Lebron “The King” James, who has not only proved his skills as an individual player, but also has helped his team earn the title of the best team in the NBA at the moment, by leading the NBA with the most wins… Lebron has emerged as one of the most dominant players in the NBA, making it look like a man is playing among boys… A whole new species of players, along with the likes of Dwight Howard…

Arguably, the 2nd best record in the NBA is posted by the team with none other than last year’s MVP, Kobe “The Black Mamba” Bryant, who has led his team with the best record in the West, and only a game behind the Cavs.. Kobe’s case for MVP remains strong, as he has pulled through in the clutch moments throughout the season..

The final case for MVP goes to Dwyane “The Flash” Wade (pictured above)… Although his teams’ record does not boast the #1 spot, he has proven to critics around the globe that the FLASH is back! Not only does he lead the NBA in scoring this season, he also leads the NBA in steals & blocks combined… If the MVP race judges strictly on a players’ performance as opposed to the team’s performance, the award would go to Wade hands down this year…
